About Me
Mayo Clinic and National Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach
Hello. I'm Diane.

With my whole heart, I care about well-being and want each person to thrive. I feel grateful to be able to support people as a health and wellness coach and build meaningful relationships with my clients.

As a young adult, I struggled to know my interests. In College, I majored in Chemistry because when it was time to choose a field of study, it was near the top of the alphabetized list of disciplines. I enjoyed it well enough and even went on to get my doctorate. I felt accomplished and successful — but unfulfilled.

As I learned more about myself, I found that I love connecting with people. I want people to have what they need — internally and externally — to flourish as a whole person.

I trained at the Mayo Clinic to become a National Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach. I was thrilled that a well-renowned institute like the Mayo Clinic was teaching people how to effectively support others on their health and wellness journey. I felt very affirmed and fulfilled.
I am happily married with two wonderful children, and a cat.

I look forward to meeting and partnering with you on your wellness journey!
What Does a Health and Wellness Coach do?
A health & wellness coach partners with clients who want to make a lifestyle change to enhance their well-being.

Coaches honor that each person is an expert in their own life, and that their path is unique to them. Some people may be ready to take action while others are contemplating if the benefit is really worth the effort. A skilled coach is attuned to these differences and will support their clients in the way that is most appropriate for them.
What are Some Things I can Focus on?
Feel empowered to become your best self
-
Manage stress. Feel better in your body.
-
Increase your energy. Live more fully.
-
Sleep better. Move more. Nourish your body
-
Boost your confidence. Increase your self-compassion.
-
Follow-through with your goals. Find balance.
Why Coaching?

Because Your Coach Believes in You
The biggest obstacle that stands in the way of change is belief in yourself. You may identify with your current lifestyle and doubt your ability to make a lasting change. Past failures may have left you feeling that change is too hard or even impossible. A coach is an ally that continues to believe in you — failures notwithstanding. We see your strengths and what is possible, even when you don't.

Is there Evidence that Coaching Works?
According to a recent study from the American Journal of Lifestyle Medicine, coaching “results in clinically relevant improvements in multiple biomarker risk factors (including systolic and diastolic blood pressure, total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, triglycerides, fasting glucose, body weight, body mass index, waist circumference, and cardiorespiratory fitness) in diverse populations.”
A Holistic Approach to Wellness
Wellness is an active process by which people make choices and decisions to enhance their well-being.
There are different, interconnected dimensions to wellness. When one element is out of balance it can affect the other. Many of us have experienced, for instance, that it is more difficult to function optimally when we don't get enough sleep. When we feel more rested, on the other hand, we can be more effective.
In health and wellness coaching, we see the client as a whole person. What circumstances need to exist for me move through the world with relative ease? Do I feel supported? Am I fulfilled? Do I feel stimulated? Am I contributing meaningfully? What choices can I make differently that will enhance my well-being?

What is a National Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach?
The field of health & wellness coaching emerged in response to the need for more hands-on support for patients with chronic illness undergoing lifestyle interventions.

The National Board for Health and Wellness coaching (NBHWC) was formed to address the need for consistent standards for this new profession. It collaborates with the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) to create a robust examination for certification.
As a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach, I am committed to upholding the ethical standards of my professions and using evidence-based practice to support my clients.

How is Health and Wellness Coaching Different from Therapy?
There is overlap, because both are based on a trusted relationship with a professional partner.
Therapists are trained to work with clients in distress and help them heal emotional traumas, mental health conditions and dysfunctional patterns. Coaches help clients who are not experiencing serious psychological or emotional distress build a better future. Although positive feelings are a natural outcome of coaching, the primary focus is on creating strategies and building skills to achieve specific goals. On occasion, a coach may refer a client to a trained therapist to process an unhealed trauma that is keeping them from moving forward in their goals and well-being.
